Things You Need To Know Before Potting The Ball
  • It's not how you pot the ball, it's when you pot the ball, so remember that timing is everything.
  • Chalk your cue tip before every shot you take. Then very lightly drop the bottom of your cue stick to the floor to get rid excess dust from the tip.
  • Improve on your snooker skills before worrying about your win/lose record.
  • Position is important when potting the ball.

Now that you have that information, here are steps on how to pot the ball in snooker:

  1. Look at the ball that is lined-up with the pocket. Line-up the cue ball with the ball that is lined-up with the pocket. Imagine how you will hit the ball in the pocket.
  2. Keep your eyes on the point of which you are going to the ball, while you are approaching to the cue ball. Don't go to the table then slide around the table to your shot.
  3. Line your cue stick, with the cue ball.
  4. Then look at your target point of your shot.
  5. Hit the cue ball and stay in position until your shot is complete.
